Nigel Clarke Speaks to Health Innovation Network
Meet the Innovator Behind Zeus Sleep
Nigel Clarke, CEO of Zeus Sleep
At Zeus Sleep, our mission is simple but ambitious: to transform sleep health through clinically backed, non invasive innovation. At the heart of that mission is our CEO, Nigel Clarke, whose vision and persistence have helped bring Zeus from concept to reality.
Recently, Nigel was featured in an interview with the Health Innovation Network, sharing the story behind Zeus, the journey of innovating alongside the NHS, and what the future holds for sleep health. We are proud to share a summary of his insights here.
What is Zeus and why is it important?
Zeus is a discreet, under chin device designed to reduce snoring by gently stimulating the tongue muscles during sleep. Using targeted TENS technology, Zeus helps maintain an open airway without masks, tubes, or invasive procedures.
Developed in collaboration with leading sleep clinicians at King’s College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Zeus supports people affected by snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. It is comfortable, easy to use, and fits seamlessly into a nightly routine.
Better sleep does not just mean quieter nights. It improves energy, health, and relationships. As Nigel puts it, when people sleep properly, life genuinely feels better. Our long term goal is to help millions of people access better sleep over the next decade.
Working with the Health Innovation Network and the NHS
Zeus has been supported by Health Innovation Wessex, part of the national Health Innovation Network. Their guidance has played an important role in helping Zeus navigate the complexity of healthcare innovation and NHS integration.
From understanding NHS pathways to ensuring our solution delivers meaningful real world impact, their support has helped ensure Zeus addresses genuine clinical and patient needs.
What is next for Zeus?
Following years of development, testing, and clinical trials, Zeus has moved into its next phase. Initial production launches are followed by wider roll out as we bring Zeus to more people who need effective, non invasive snoring support.
Seeing Zeus in the hands of customers and making a real difference to sleep quality has been one of the most rewarding moments in the journey so far.
Key learnings from innovating within the NHS
Innovating in healthcare requires patience, clarity, and resilience. As Nigel shares, there are no shortcuts. True innovation means deeply understanding the realities faced by NHS teams and patients, and communicating clearly every step of the way.
Taking the time to get it right is what allows solutions like Zeus to genuinely work in the real world.
Looking to the future of sleep health
Nigel’s hope is that Zeus becomes a global benchmark for sleep health. By changing how snoring and sleep disruption are managed, Zeus aims to contribute to a healthier, happier, and more productive world, one restful night at a time.
Advice for future health innovators
Nigel’s advice is grounded in experience:
Stay relentlessly user focused and listen carefully to real needs.
Test, learn, and refine continuously using real world feedback.
