Setting the Right Stimulation Level for You
Before you begin:
Zeus has 10 stimulation levels to suit different sensitivities. Everyone experiences stimulation differently. Some users feel stimulation at level 1, while others may only notice it at higher levels.
The goal is not strong stimulation, but the lowest level that feels comfortable while still doing its job.
Step 1: Find your starting level
-
Start at level 1.
-
Gradually increase the level until you feel a light buzzing or tingling sensation.
We recommend testing this on your forearm first. This makes it easier to see the LED indicator and use the buttons while you get familiar with the sensation.
The level at which you first feel a gentle tingling is usually the right level for you.
You will not feel your tongue move. The stimulation is gentle and designed to work without disturbing your sleep, while helping keep your airway open.
How strong does it need to be?
The muscle does not need strong stimulation to stay active. Zeus simply stimulates it enough to keep it in an “awake” state and prevent it from relaxing back into the throat.
Some users find the sensation pleasant and choose to increase the level. This is optional. Zeus will still work effectively at lower levels.
If you notice twitching or strong sensations
In some cases, you may notice small muscle or nerve twitches in the neck or face. This can also happen when testing on the arm, where fingers may briefly twitch. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
If this happens:
-
Gently tap the electrode on the side where you feel the twitch, or massage the area to help release the nerve.
-
If needed, try repositioning Zeus slightly.
-
You can also reduce the stimulation level.
If level 1 feels too strong
If the stimulation feels strong even at level 1:
-
Make sure the skin is completely dry before applying Zeus.
-
Avoid lotions, creams, or oils on the area, as moisture can increase the sensation.
-
If you shave the area, we recommend shaving in the morning to allow the skin time to settle before applying Zeus at night.
Some users find that a very small amount of stubble can slightly reduce the sensation. If you try this, ensure it does not affect the adhesion of the device.
What to expect over time
When you first start using Zeus, you may clearly feel the gentle pulses under your chin. Over time, as your muscles adapt, the sensation may become less noticeable.
This does not mean Zeus has stopped working. It is similar to how your body adapts to exercise. What initially feels noticeable becomes familiar as the muscle adjusts.
If Zeus feels intense at first, we recommend giving it time and allowing your body to adapt before increasing or changing levels.
